Young Adult Group
for Grief Support
is back at
The WARM Place.
This summer The WARM Place will be offering
a six-week session for young adults ages 19 - 25.
Young Adult Summer Session,
every Tuesday for six weeks,
July 8 through August 12 , 2008
from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Through our work with grieving children we found that young adults did not have a specific grief support group that they could attend. There are groups for older adults and very few for children, but the 19 - 25 year old age group was being left out. That was the impetus for starting our sessions for this age group which will meet three times a year-Spring, Summer and Fall.
On a typical group night the young adult group will focus on discussions of memories of each person's loved one who died, the changes they have experienced in their families, memories of attending the funeral and what is different in their lives now and how each person is coping with the death.
There are several group activities designed to facilitate discussions on each night. Some of the activities are clay modeling, drawing pictures of their family before and after the death and drawing a timeline of memorable events in their lives.
If you know of any young adults that might be interested in attending this summer session, please have them contact Kathy Telger, WARM Place counselor at 817-870-2272 or by email: kathy@thewarmplace.org .
The WARM Place is located at 809 Lipscomb St.,
in Fort Worth, just south of downtown.

The WARM Place Needs Volunteers
To Put Smiles Back On Our Children's Faces.
Currently we need volunteers age 18 or older
to fill positions in two key areas:
House Parents and Facilitators
Fall Facilitator Training begins
Tuesday, September 9, 2008.
House Parent volunteers work every other week from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
They greet the families as they arrive, work in the kitchen arranging
the pot-luck dinner and clean up after the meal.
Facilitator volunteers act as discussion leaders at bi-monthly support groups. There are seven training sessions required for this position and volunteers will work with Pre-schoolers (3 & 4 years old), young children (5 to 8 years old), pre-teens (9 to 12 years old), teens (13 to 18 years old) or young adult groups.
Help us put the smile back
on more children's faces this year.
Come and volunteer at The WARM Place.
